Spring Break

We began our Spring Break by going to Midway with my side of the family.  We stayed at The Homestead, which is one of my favorite places.  Brandon had a track invitational and was unable to come, so I packed us and the car all up and headed up there.  I often wonder if it's worth all the work when going on a vacation or get-away.  Most of the time it is, but then there have been times like this one that I second guess. :)

The kids had a blast swimming and playing and we enjoyed a great dinner and celebrated Michelle's birthday.  But then it was time to go to bed.  The girls were in one bed and I was in another with Matt.  First off, I always have a hard time sleeping somewhere else, especially the first night.  Secondly, I can never sleep when my kids are in the same bed as me.  I'm always worried they'll fall off and they're all over the place with their feet usually in my side.  So about half way into the night, Audrie starts crying and telling me her tummy hurts.  She climbs in bed with me and then a minute later tells me she thinks she's going to throw-up.  So we head to the bathroom and I sit on the floor with her while she's crying and trying to...you know...at one point she had it coming out both ends at the same time, which I know is probably too much information, but it just adds more details to the story. :)  After a few hours on the bathroom floor, I could hear Matt awake in the other room so I leave Audrie a minute and go check on him where I find Alexa sitting with him.  Bless her heart for being a sweet sister and staying with him.  She is such a good little mother.  By this time we're all up for another few hours until morning.  Needless to say is was a very LONG night and we were all exhausted.

Alexa called me over to show me her artwork in the sand...too cute!

The girls coming down from the crater...

Five minutes into the ride home I look in my rear-view mirror and see this...

I felt like doing the same thing.
It's a good thing it wasn't too long of a drive back.  As I was driving, I was thinking about the last time I had stayed at The Homestead.  I was about 9 weeks pregnant with Alexa and feeling sick and horrible like Audrie did, spending most my time in the bathroom.  I think it's about time I have a redemption trip there...without children and not being pregnant. :)

Since Brandon was gone visiting and helping his brother in Colorado for the week, I was left to entertain the kids.  After a rough weekend, we did end up having some fun.  We hung out and played, watch movies, had a sleep-over at Grandma and Grandpa Child's, and one day took them all with their cousins to Jungle Jim's, lunch, and frozen yogurt.  They thought it was...The.Best.Day.Ever!  It was a pretty great day, especially because I paid half of what it would have cost if I hadn't used coupons and freebies that I had.  Awesome! :)

Matt was able to get on most the rides and had an absolute blast!  We all did!

It was a very nice break indeed.
